A QUIET NIGHT IN

A QUIET NIGHT IN
the red keeps me company
the ballgame is over
and the Sox beat out the Yanks
in the bottom of the 8th
making the score 4 – 3
then they brought in the closer
Papelbon
the man could stand on a set of railroad tracks
and stare down a freight train
they went out one, two, three
I’m not a big baseball fan
but enjoy the rivalries
the duality of nature
the sick realm of reality
a girl texts me
wants to know if I’m at the bar
I tell her no
I’m at home folding laundry
twirling my hair
and writing poems about doom
