WHO?

who?
around this town
there are plenty of people
who think they know my name
but they really don’t
they call me by various deviations of my name
thinking that it is, in fact
my name
but I do not correct them.
the days go by
and the weeks
even years
there is this one fellow
who’s been calling me the wrong name now
for nearly seven years
he just hasn’t realized it
hasn’t picked up on it
and nobody
including myself
has ever bothered to inform him
that for seven whole years
he’s been calling me a name
which is not my own.
it is a neat feeling
to have that over somebody
almost like a secret
like you know something they don’t know
and armed with that knowledge
you are a better man
