SHORT AND SWEET
Clayton came up to me
And made a sign for me
To take off my headphones.
I had them on,
So that he wouldn’t talk to me,
So that I could avoid his harangues,
And get my writing done.
But this time was simple.
I turned down the volume and said, “huh?”
“at work today,” he began,
“this guy gave me the phone,
And it was my boss. He said to me,
‘listen. I don’t like you,
And I think you’re a fuckin’ asshole.’
Then the guy took the phone back, haha.”
Clayton sniggered and walked away,
Went back into the common dorm room,
Where we all were staying,
And I decided to write this little poem.
