WAR

the rule of the house
is that
you put your dirty dishes
in the dishwasher
after you
are finished using them

but there is a single spoon
in the sink
this morning

and I have no doubt
that soon there will be another
then a plate
and a drinking glass

and nobody will put them
in the dishwasher
because doing
that
would be a sign of weakness
and defeat

so the dishes
will go on
piling up
like dominoes fall down

oh god
the battle has just begun!
